Not much great this week, but things that still need to be noted. Theft at the venue. Some time, not sure exactly when because we do not use it often, the studio cashbox was cleared out. About $300 – like I said we do not use it often so I am not 100% how much was in there. It probably happened when we accidently left it in the locker one night instead of taking it out into the main room where it would be in full view. I only tell you all this as a reminder to be careful of your belongings. As long as they are in plain site for all to see, they will be safer. Everyone I have met at the venue has been great. But it is the odd random person that goes and causes issues like this that we need to be mindful of. No classes this week. As you have probably deduced due to lockdown, we will not be teaching this week. I hope it is only this week and I will let you know when things change. I also know that lockdown can be hard for some, be it economics or social or emotional. I hope you are doing well. And by all means drop a line if you wish to talk. We are mostly all home (I am doing my day job from home) so we are all available in some way to talk. Negativity gone – next week will be more positive. Photo credit: Dialysis Technician Salary

Wedding dances You can see below a photo from one of our wedding couples. It’s a nice shot so worth sharing. It’s been a while since we have done this, but it is a tradition at Destine Dance that wedding couples perform in front of the students to get practice dancing in front of others for their wedding day. We should have such a couple this Wednesday so get ready to emulate a wedding party. Awards night
The exact date has not been locked in, but the next awards will be August. As I always say, these are excellent ways to improve. Your teacher will talk to you about it this week and later. Lessons this week Tuesday 6:30pm Advanced: argentine tango and merengue Beginner: argentine tango and salsa Wednesday 7:30pm Advanced: slow foxtrot and jive (East coast swing or 6 beat lindy for some) Beginner: cha cha and waltz Thursday 6:30pm Advanced: blues and West coast swing Beginner: rock and roll and Lindy Hop Westcoast treat Kevin will be teaching west coats this Thursday. He is our west coast specialist and is taking time off what he normally does on a Thursday to teach you. So make sure you’re there if you want to get the low down on this dance. See you on the dance floor Clint In this update it's all about dates.
Please remember that this Thursday there are no lessons. This Sunday - www.facebook.com/events/212438837347709 - there is a social on at the club. See you there at 3:30pm. It's always a great way to see the weekend out and a perfect way to get some social dancing in. They do a mix of modern rock and pop so you will be able to dance some R'n'R, swing, cha cha, and more (people were dancing argentine tango last time). It's time to set a date for the next awards night. Your teacher will be asking you about dates that will work for you so we can organise it. This week the group classes are: Tuesday 6:30pm Advanced: argentine tango and merengue Beginner: argentine tango and salsa Wednesday 7:30pm Advanced: slow foxtrot and jive (East coast swing or 6 beat lindy for some) Beginner: cha cha and waltz Thursday 6:30pm Advanced: blues and West coast swing Beginner: rock and roll and Lindy Hop West Coast Surprise We do not do West Coast swing often. So even though we are teaching it in the advanced class, we are starting with lower levels moves for now. We still expect to accelerate quickly. That means we can cover some advanced figures. And we will do this by using our advanced West Coast Swing teacher Kevin. So if you want to get the low down on this versatile dance, then Thursdays are your night to come by for class. Upcoming cancelation
The venue will be unavailable on May 20. If you have a lesson that night, then please ensure you have spoken with your teacher about making alternative plans. Thanks in advance Clint |
