The heading says it all. We have awards this week and I will tell you about the group classes this week.
 
Awards
We do not have a lot of people going for awards this time around. So If you swing by the studio at around 6pm (get there at 5:30pm to be safe), then you can watch people going for their awards. This is to support them and also to see what it's all like. Best of luck to all who are going for these.
 
Please also note that this means there are no private lessons at 5:30pm or 6:30pm on Wednesday.
 
Group classes this week

• Monday at 7:30pm - Salsa
• Tuesday at 6:30pm - Cha cha
• Wednesday at 7:30pm - Lindy Hop
• Thursday at 6:30pm - Quickstep

As you likely recall, the awards night is coming up. This will be on 31 August 2022. All the best if you are going for yours.
 
If you are not, then note we will not have group classes or private lessons that evening. However, you are more than welcome to come to observe. It will be at 5:30pm for a 6pm start. We usually try to get through this quickly so be there on time to see what it's all like - and support your fellow dancers as they improve their abilities.
 
Speaking of group classes. Due to the difficulty finding teachers and the wedding season being upon us, it is difficult to accommodate more private lessons. Therefore, there is now a change in focus for the group classes:

• Each group class will cover only one dance
• The first half will be dedicated to learning some basic steps
• The second half will be the use of those steps under guidance from teaching staff in a more social manner
• Each class will be self contained so anyone can show up and join in
• If you keep going to group classes, then you will cover a number of dances and steadily improve in your general dance ability
• More experienced dancers, like those who take privates, will be able to work on their technique in the first half and practice more advanced figures in the second half of the lesson

Or maybe people you know who are looking for a way to get a lot of dance in for the various health benefits classes offer (fun, fitness, socialising, weight loss). Please share with anyone you think might be interested. It is ideal for anyone wanting to get out of the house and do something fun for greater health and socialisation.

​This is most embarrassing. I have been alerted to the fact that I have been providing different dates for the next awards night. I can confirm that it is on 31 August 2022. 
 
The other date provided in the past was the result of a typo.
 
Apologies for the confusion and any issue caused.
 Also, this week we will do blues in the Wednesday class. After it was requested at the last social some of us went to. So the lessons this week are:

• Monday 7:30pm - Beginner: Argentine tango and salsa
• Tuesday 6:30pm - Beginner: Jive and Cha cha 
  Wednesday 7:30pm - Beginner: rock and roll and blues ​
  Thursday 6:30pm - Beginner: Quickstep and waltz

We had a great day at the social yesterday. The duo doing Roy Orbison and the Everly Brothers were great performers and they appreciated the contribution made by the everyone from Destine Dance. Musicians, I have found, enjoy it when people dance to their music. There is probably no better way to show how connected you are to their music and how much you enjoy it. I will let you know when the next one is.
 
I have no photos at the moment - hard to take them when dancing - but I will see if I can get some from the function manager.
 
Also, after today, there was more interest in the blues. Some of the songs suited that style so we did dance a bit of it. Anita, Jessica and I also went to a blues session on Friday to keep in touch with the style. So we can run a session in the next few weeks, and everyone can explore it more.
