First off, group classes this week (The first week of the current 6 week cycle):
Second, thanks to all those who did the survey. You can see a write up of the results here - https://docs.google.com/document/d/1laR8jt-2wMSEVDVj6OB4zixKIoVrG-hR2iQzYIGDJ64/edit?usp=sharing In response to the results, we will now have two teachers in each group class. It will be me and Alicia on Mondays and Tuesdays. Kevin will take the lead on Wednesdays and I also will be there. And then on Thursday it will be me and Peter (who you might recall from last week if you were there - we are still working on his profile, but take a look here - https://www.destinedance.com.au/peter.html - he is new so he has space if you want private lessons). Also, we will now be demanding that you wear suitable shoes in group class or otherwise dance in socks. In addition, we will put more effort into developing physicality and musicality in all classes. Finally, we will keep on putting effort into maintaining all the things you said you like about the studio. I am hopeful that these new efforts will mean you get even more out of your experience at Destine Dance. See you on the dance floor Clint

First off - classes this week:
Second, Kevin (who, you would know via the Facebook group, recently won the Open Male Intermediate Pro-Am World Champion last month) will be taking over the studio in 2025 - as I step away. The plan is to keep running things as they are. For the rest of this year, while I am still here, things will certainly remain the same - apart from Kevin becoming more involved so there is a smooth transition. We want this to be seamless for you - and in fact we want it to be a chance to make things even better! That's a reason for you, if you have not yet, to fill out the survey on what you would like from the studio in the future - https://forms.gle/YZi9YSnZrKxJshQj6. If you are one of the many people who has contributed thus far, then thank you - the results to date have been most interesting. Finally, remember the ball this Saturday night - https://www.facebook.com/events/2197230953985856. We hope to run more of these in the future so you have more opportunities to use your dance abilities the way they were intended. See you on the dance floor Clint There is a bit in this update, but it is important so please take your time to read it all. It should only take about 2-3 minutes. THE AWARDS Well done to all who went for the awards. And thanks to those who came to support them and enjoy the fun of the night. If you did go for the awards, and there is anything erroneous with your trophies or certificates, then please let me know. We can get it corrected. I am also in the process of posting the videos of the night on an unlisted playlist. You can see it here - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLyGvt2y5z1menhfL-0BAYd4t07psYBpX8. Let me know if you see any footage of yourself that you are not happy with. Thanks again to Richard Bence Productions ([email protected] 0418121529) for all the videography and photography. And thanks to Andrea who baked cupcakes. Also, some asked about the Pizza. It was from Bubba Pizza in Elwood https://www.facebook.com/bubbapizza. MORE PROFICIENCY CLASSES Please let me know if you would be interested in a proficiency group class. It would be on Wednesday at 8:30pm. You would have seen students get their awards at the last awards night after doing the last course. So if you are looking for an option to do awards, then let me know. We are still working out the styles we will teach so you can also suggest some. GROUP CLASSES The classes this week are:
The next cycle starts 16 September:
NOW FOR THE BIG NEWS My girlfriend Sophie is pregnant. And our baby is due in March next year. This means that I will not have time to put as much effort into the studio as I do now. Thus, there will likely be changes next year. I am already talking to the teachers about one of them taking over so that Destine Dance can continue to run in the New Year (see the next section). I can however assure that for the rest of this year, the studio will continue to run as planned. And we will still be trying to expand so that we can offer you more people to dance with and more things to do. DESTINE DANCE IN 2025 To make plans for giving you the best studio possible we want to know more about what is important to you. Please take the time to fill out this survey about what you enjoy most at the studio - https://forms.gle/fq4sKGPPaB9obqUg7. OPEN DAY This Sunday is the open day at the studio venue. There will be live music, bowls, Capoeira will hopefully be there, and Destine Dance will be there to try to get more people involved. We will be running a dance class for half an hour and then dancing to the band. There is no cost. And it would be great if you could come along to encourage others there to learn dance with us. MORE CASUAL PRIVATE LESSON SLOTS I still have some slots where I can take private lessons. If you would like to have some private lessons to work on key attributes, and accelerate your learning, then send me a message so we can organise something for you. SUSBSCRIPTIONS There was meant to be a pause in the subscriptions last week, but it seems this did not happen. Therefore, I will pause the charges for this week. Please let me know if you have been overcharged so we can correct it. THE SPRING BALL The next major event on the calendar is the spring ball - www.facebook.com/events/2197230953985856. Make sure you get your tickets so can register the songs you wish to dance to. It will be a good night and one you will be glad you went to. See you on the dance floor Clint Thanks to everyone who took the time to fill out the survey last week.
The main concern raised this time was about ensuring everyone gets fair access to the facilities - music and mirrors basically. I have reminded the teachers to ensure that they use and share these so that you get fullest benefit. By all means let them know if you feel you are missing out. Another item was that some felt they had not progressed as fast as they would like. This is common, but I am thinking about creating an online course on attributes of dance to help people develop the key capabilities outside of class. This should help people speed up their progress. In the interim though, I can reiterate the value of doing a diversity of lessons. This week we had a couple who had been doing only privates and were amazed at the benefits of their first group class. And, we also had a couple who had been doing only group classes and were amazed at the benefits of their first private class. And remember, there is no substitute for showing up. You can see the group classes we are doing this week listed on the studio homepage - https://www.destinedance.com.au Note this is week 4 of the current cycle so stick with it if you have been going to the other classes - now is the time we really solidify your capability and start having fun. See you on the dance floor Clint I wanted to let you know that I really do enjoy teaching at Destine Dance and a major reason for that is you. It's just great fun teaching you and others - be it in a private or a group class.
If it weren't for you, the there would be no studio. And to show my appreciation, I want to know what can be done to make the studio better for you. Please take the time to fill out this survey (only 9 questions and most of them multiple choice) to let me know what we can do to make things better for you - https://forms.gle/w2jReLruJ9P6fMm7A. And just so you know, these are the group classes this week:
I look forward to seeing on the dance floor Clint |
