Rock and Roll dance lessons in Melbourne

Music you know, modern attitude and a heap of fun

The best balance of fun and style

Rock and Roll Dancing - Melbourne
It all stared with the music. Because much of Rock and Roll music is based on swing music it has the same clear backbeat (and syncopation). That's why when the music came out, many dancers found that figures from the big band era fitted so well with Rock and Roll music.

This was a revival (or sorts) of swing dance. And that's the reason why so many similarities can be seen between Rock and Roll and other forms of swing.

Many treat Rock and Roll as a style all its own. However, due to its similarities and for the sake of easy grouping of dances, Destine Dance teaches Rock and Roll along with other swing dances. This means you can learn how to use the figures you know in one style in other styles - making you a more competent and flexible dancer. It also means you can dance what you know to different types of music. When you learn Rock and Roll (along with other swing dances) you have a dance that you can dance in many situations. It's both a fun and practical dance to know.
