We are currently looking for teachers to join the team - we have a surplus of enquiries so you should be off and running soon with your own loyal dance students.
If you would like to experience teaching partner dance, then contact us to talk more about how we can work together.
Our goal is to have happy employers who want to keep their students happy. Therefore, it is important that we ensure Destine Dance is right for you as well as you being right for Destine Dance.
The key attribute we look for in dance teachers are:
If you feel you have all these attributes, then we might be a good fit for you.
If we do wish to talk with you further, then we will first ask you to come in and teach something to someone here so we can evaluate your teaching skills. Then the rest of the interview will focus on alignment between what you want and what Destine Dance offers its students.
Chances are you will start off helping with group classes to get a handle on how things work. Then we will start finding private students for you. The base pay is $36 an hour (when teaching - $30 an hour when you are in training), but the rate goes up as you teach more hours. This is a contracting role. Note, you will need to create an ABN, and it will be up to you to determine if you charge GST on top of the above.
Because we only teach in the evenings, this can be an excellent part-time job to enhance your income to cover higher expenses or keep you funded through study and such.

The key attribute we look for in dance teachers are:
- An enjoyment of teaching - it's hard gig if you do not like it.
- An ability to work later shifts (finishing at 9:30pm) - if you find this job is not compatible with your personal life, then you will not be happy working.
- Dance experience, but not necessarily partner dancing - just as long as you can dance and have good movement and musicality - we can bring you up to speed on partner dancing.
- Being comfortable dancing with your students in performances and for assessment - this is a major part of the job so it's good to be comfortable with it.
- A comfort with sales - our students are important to us, it's what let's us employ you, so you need to be comfortable bringing them into this new world of dance, which might be confronting for them at first even if it becomes one of their favourite things in their life.
If you feel you have all these attributes, then we might be a good fit for you.
