Salsa is often the dance that many people first think of when they think about learning to dance. Since the 80s it has had a reputation for being fun, sexy and social. It's history actually goes back well before then and it was in fact the dance that led to the Cha cha.

Despite this pedigree, salsa is still very much a street Latin dance, and as such continues to evolve. So much so that there are now different types (New York, Cuban, L.A., Venezuelan and so on). Nevertheless, much of the basics and the underlying character remain the same.

Because of its ability to evolve and its engaging nature, it has become one of the most popular dances around the world. When you know how to salsa dance, you know a dance that is like a universal language and you can use it to meet people the globe over. Salsa is also one of the best dances to learn if you wish to dance in Melbourne.

If you want to learn something that will be fun, energetic and sexy while also popular enough to let you socialise and meet people, then salsa is one dance you should learn.
