Dance Lessons For Schools

Rounding out education with cognitive, physical and social development
Partner dancing has established mental benefits, this alone would make it ideal for all students. However, it is also an excellent tool for socialisation. Because partner dance is based on 2 people dancing together and then on a floor with other couples, it demands a sense of responsibility, cooperation and respect. Further, the desire to be competent in a social setting that encourages mixing between the sexes, like dance does, motivates students to develop these attributes. This combination of demand and desire, is what makes partner dance key to developing the attributes of responsibility, cooperation and respect in students.
You might have seen or heard of the documentary Mad Hot Ballroom about the teaching of ballroom dancing to students in New York public schools (see the video below). It shows how having dance as part of the curriculum can have positive effects upon students in a number of ways. This is an example of what can be gained if you choose to incorporate dance into your curriculum.
If you would like to use partner dancing to develop mature social attributes in your students, then contact Destine Dance. We can develop a course that fits with your needs. This could include dance education for a formal or a debutante ball. It could also be the teaching of a routine, freestyle or a mix of the two.
