Many people like to always talk about bow they are glad the year is over. But I enjoyed 2022. One of the reasons is you. I like being a part of Destine Dance and a major part of Destine Dance is you. So thanks for the great year.

This week we have the following group classes:
• Monday 7:30pm – Argentine Tango
• Tuesday 6:30pm – Jive
• Wednesday – no class, but we have the awards night starting at 6:00pm (get your ticket here https://buy.stripe.com/8wMdUy4Ls0Unh1ufYZ)
• Thursday 6:30pm – Waltz

As you know, this Wednesday is the awards night (check out the trophies). If you have secured your spot, then I have emailed you about the night. If you have not yet secured your spot, then use the link above. Or contact me if you have an issue with the online purchasing process.

After this week, we will be back in 2023 on the 23rd of January. Your teacher will talk to you about private lessons if you take them, and I will send an email beforehand about the group classes and such. My plan is to promote hard over the next few weeks and think about the type of classes that suit the post COVID world where people are ready to get back to living. So I am hoping to have a vibrant studio for you to learn and experience dance in for 2023.

Update 12 December 2022: Something Serious

Before we talk about other things, let’s talk about classes for this week. Note we have no lessons on Monday or Thursday this week. So the group classes are:

Tuesday at 6:30pm – Rumba
Wednesday at 7:30pm – Lindy Hop

Also, next week is the awards night (Wednesday 21st at 6pm). You can support those going for an award, enjoy the BBQ, learn a progressive dance from Kevin and then finish off with social dancing. Now for the serious part. Some reminders about good practice in dance class (group and private):

Hygiene – please come to classes with deodorant. Our classes are in the evening so you have likely done a whole day’s work beforehand. Thus, you might have been sweaty. We do have deodorant at the studio so you can always use a bit if you have not had the chance to freshen up before class.
Leads – men, please step up your ability if you feel you might not be as good as you could be. The ladies are polite, but some have mentioned to teachers that the standard of leads discourages them at times. It might seem unfair to have to meet this higher standard – but that’s life at times. If you think your leading could be better – no matter the style – then book a couple private lessons with a female instructor. You will be amazed at how much better you dance after getting this focused attention – and your dance partners will appreciate it immensely.
Pick Up Artists (Men and Women). The teachers are always going to be supportive and they will help you become the best dancer you can be. Be mindful of how you might confuse this for romantic interest. Also, note that most of the instructors are in relationships. Sometimes this is not realised.
