We might be coming out of lock down this week. If we do, then we will keep teaching the group classes we were been teaching before lockdown. We will do Samba next month for those who asked about it. Also, your teachers will contact you to organise classes if you are a private student. I am sure you can imagine how convoluted the situation is so please be understanding as we try to get things organised.
In the interim though:

You might have seen the new page on our website. We are trying a new program to help people get in shape for summer. We will be starting with 3 lessons a week and hope to take it to 5 as popularity improves. The price is only $5 a lesson to make it easier for people to invest properly in their healthy and fitness. Please note, that these classes are outside of our other classes - and lessons are paid for separately. We will have these up and running in a week or so. Just need to wait for lock down to end and organise some other things. Couples to female teacher We have not yet been able to find another male teacher. The means we might need to shift our couples to Gigi and Anita. Nothing solid is planned yet - just letting you know. But if you have a preference and would like to secure one of Anita or Gigi now, then you can let me know or contact them directly. Blues event - this is a special one I will be talking with Katrina Rogers this Sunday in an online event about the nuances of blues dancing. Things that ultimately lead to looking better and cooler on the dance floor and having more fun. If you can make it, then ensure you are there for this session. Anita and I did lessons with her in the big lock down - and learned a lot from her. You will too. And that's about dance in general - not just blues. See more details here https://www.facebook.com/DestineDance/posts/3013178779001420. Disco event This is still going ahead - COVID permitting. So keep 31 July free. You can dance, cha cha, Lindy Hop, blues and even R'n'R to disco. We will play some disco in some classes coming up to get out in that rhythm. So you will have a good time on the night. Due to the solid turn out of previous events, we are securing a table this time so we can have an even better time. I am looking forward to it. Lock Down There is a chance that lock down will go longer than planned. I hope you are faring well. Once lock down ends, we will be back into action. And we still plan on running the awards night at the end of August. I will keep you updated. Hope to see you soon Clint I hope you had a good weekend. Group classes First I wanted to remind everyone that we have group classes. This is primarily for the new students doing private lessons. The group classes are an excellent way to augment what you learn in your private lessons. It's also a reminder for those students who might have been focusing on their privates only for a while now, and not been to group for a while. The classes this week are: Tuesday 6:30pm Advanced: argentine tango and salsa Beginner: argentine tango and salsa Wednesday 7:30pm Advanced: cha cha and waltz Beginner: cha cha and waltz Thursday 6:30pm Advanced: rock and roll and Lindy Hop Beginner: rock and roll and Lindy Hop Also, a COVID update. Under current restrictions we can have indoor social and recreational events - thus dance classes. However, unless one feels that one has trouble breathing, then one is to wear a facemask. That means in the lessons there will be some with and some without facemasks. Please wear what is suitable for you and note that others are wearing what is suitable for them. Regardless, please ensure you check in when you arrive. Getting a dancer's body This Saturday morning I will be going over some exercises that can help you get better movement in general and for your dancing. If you ever feel clunky when you dance, then this will be ideal for you. Register for a reminder here - https://www.facebook.com/DestineDance/posts/3008598416126123. A thankyou
I do enjoy teaching you and working with the other teachers who also teach you. Obviously, this only works with you there. So thanks for being there and all the enjoyment you bring. I have a really good life because of it. See you on the dance floor In this update:
Awards Group lessons this week Talking dance - Timing and musicality AWARDS NIGHT The next awards night is on August 25. These are a great opportunity for students to feel a sense of achievement, feel confident in their ability and get feedback from an independent expert - Jenny Rosenfeld. They also make excellent goals to keep you progressing. Your teacher will talk to you this week about registering. GROUP LESSONS THIS WEEK Because of the starts and stops caused be the recent lockdowns, we will focus on the more common dances this week: Tuesday 6:30pm Advanced: Argentine tango and salsa Beginner: Argentine tango and salsa Wednesday 7:30pm Advanced: cha cha and waltz Beginner: cha cha and waltz Thursday 6:30pm Advanced: rock and roll and Lindy Hop Beginner: rock and roll and Lindy Hop TALKING DANCE This is the name given to our Facebook live sessions.
