Well everyone proved me wrong last week - we had a really good turnout at group class each night. 
 
That means there are plenty of people to vote for and people to vote in our new group class student awards. Thanks to those who have already voted, we are starting to see some clear front runners for the most improved leads already. Please take the time fill it out two weeks prior to the awards so I can organise the trophies for the awards night. You can also edit your response - so you can do it now and then make changes as we get closer to the night.

The greater numbers at group classes also mean that the group classes have been more social. Thanks to all who have come - it has been enjoyable simply being a part of social dancing like it is meant to be.

• Monday 7:30pm Street Latin - Kizomba (an African take on tango)
• Tuesday 6:30pm Latin American - Cha cha (a fun and universal dance)
• Wednesday 7:30pm Swing and RnR - Rock and Roll (the rebel dance)
• Thursday 6:30pm Ballroom - Slow foxtrot (the most elegant of the dances)

 
And in the spirit of social dancing, let's go out to some more events - it's been a while since we have done that. I have mentioned them on the Facebook group already, but, as a reminder and to organise you, the two upcoming events are:

1. Bachata Conexion this Saturday - www.facebook.com/events/929584598943819 - we have always had a good time at these events so you know it will be a good night. There are also restaurants and such in the area so like we did recently, let me know if you are keen to get there earlier (7pm) so we can get something to eat first.
2. A swing and dance blues party the following Saturday - https://www.facebook.com/events/465991312615460/ - which is excellent timing given we have recently done both. There is also a lesson as well to help people connect. So even though this is a new event for us, all indication are it will be a great event.

Here are three reasons to make sure you come to group classes this week.
 
First off, we start a new cycle this week. So you can get in at the start and master the styles we are teaching. The styles are:

• Monday 7:30pm Street Latin - Kizomba (an African take on tango)
• Tuesday 6:30pm Latin American - Cha cha (a fun and universal dance)
• Wednesday 7:30pm Swing and RnR - Rock and Roll (the rebel dance)
• Thursday 6:30pm Ballroom - Slow foxtrot (the most elegant of the dances)

Second, there is now a new chance for you to be recognized as a valued member of the Destine Dance community. As noted in the Facebook group we will be giving out awards for students who bring the most to the group classes:

• Most improved lead
• Most improved follow
• Most enjoyable lead
• Most enjoyable follow
• Best group class participant 

You and other students at the studio can vote for who they think should win. You can also see a link to the voting page via the new awards page on the website. If you want others to vote for you, then you will need to make an impression in the group classes.
 
Third and finally, we had a smaller number of people signing up for the next 4 week program. Therefore, we are likely to have a higher standard on the whole - and this is a great chance for you to push beyond where you currently are skills wise.
 
Speaking of pushing beyond. We are going to try a new group class for those who want to go for awards, but do not want to do privates. Take a look here for details.
