QnA with Andrés
What do you like most about dance?
I like to feel alive, creative, I like to perceive others through the languages of movement and have
the possibility to communicate through the body.
What do you like about teaching dance?
I like to teach dance because I can contribute to the processes of self-knowledge of other people
who approach this language for fun, for personal growth or even for the search for a professional
path. It is rewarding to observe the growth of my students and how they can enjoy dance in a
context of social dance or on a stage.
What's your favorite quote about dance and why?
For me, getting moving, is starting to meditate. (Maurice Béjart)
I feel identification with this phrase because it presents the introspective trait that dance entails,
because before dancing with my partner, before dancing in a salon, I dance with myself
recognizing myself in order to recognize the others with whom I enjoy and dance.
Why did you start dancing?
I never thought about dancing but when I found tango 20 years ago I found a unique possibility to
feel alive, and discover myself as a communicating and creative being through the body and soul
put into dance.
