In this update:
Start Date next year The plan at the moment is to come back on the 15th of Jan, but not start formal group class cycles until Feb. So we might mix up the styles in group classes for a couple weeks. Let me know if there is anything you are keen to work on before we bring in newcomers. We might also use this two weeks to finish off some wedding couples or get them started - so if you do privates, then let your teacher know if you really want to start ASAP or if you would like to start later. Note your teacher might want to start later. Also, I need to confirm this start date with others so expect another email to confirm. This is just to let you know the current plan. A favour to ask An important part of the business is customer reviews on Google. This helps promote the studio to potential students. If you feel you have had 5 star experience, then please leave a review here - https://g.page/r/Cd34izcvQlAEEB0/review. Otherwise, let me know what is missing so we can correct that for next year. We are almost at 100 reviews so you could be the magic number 100. Thanks We had a great time at the EOY event Thursday just gone. Thanks to all who came along to add to the fun, to those who went for their awards to provide great entertainment, to the teachers who helped those students and supported the event, to Jenny Kenna and Jennifer de Silva for bringing along some more food, and to Susanne who helped (along with the Jennies) with the BBQ. Check out the photos from the night (those who got their awards) here - https://www.facebook.com/DestineDance/posts/pfbid0tdVQRYAMijkNtctTVC63K4oGJcA64FednQzcL4Fg1urYFLeAMsAporJ76GMkgojMl Supporting community members (a house in Byron Bay) One of our members (Claire who you might recall from awards) has a home for sale in Byron Bay. If you or someone you know would be interested in a home there, then please take a look here - https://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-nsw-newrybar-143387720?fbclid=IwAR1zAVKTCnAFd076cHjQbuJ8ZogHg-bdY2dOdicN1vDGpAPJvSyaKkIh2mY. We are always prepared to share information to help people in our community - so if you have a link for a business or any other event/organisation you are wishing to promote, then let me know. Differences for next year Because we have had trouble accommodating demand for the private lessons, we will be encouraging group classes in 2024. Thus, you might see the introduction of awards focused group classes along with beginner and intermediate group classes. Privates will be more aligned with those who already do them: higher levels, one-offs and wedding couples. Before we come back I will keep an eye open for social events over the next few weeks and let you know about them. Please also share any you come across in the Facebook group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/767400293465916. Some advice for better dancing I have had some comments about teachers looking more connected with different styles or students, or dancing in a more dance-sport style (in awards and in socials) than some students are used to. This has been taken on board, and our teachers will always do their best to ensure that students have the best experience possible. However, there is also a chance to better understand how different situations bring about different dance styles and to experience a different approach to dance to gain a broader perspective. Always be open to new experiences and learning more about dance. I will email you again in about a week, to confirm more about the start dates for 2024. Regards Clint

Awards If you are going for awards, then I have recently sent an email about the details. Please let me know if you did not get this. Cancellations December is a crazy time this year, and the following nights we will not have any classes:
I realise that is a fair chunk of the month. This was partly the result of some confusion within the management of the venue so it is an unusual December. Thus, to compensate those who are currently on the subscription, I will be suspending their fees for the month of December. EOY party Thanks again to those who filled out the survey. We will be doing a BBQ this year along with the awards and a class suited to beginners as well (so please bring friends) and then we'll have some social dancing to see the night out. The bar will also be open at great prices. You can purchase your tickets for the night via this link: https://www.destinedance.com.au/store/p39/EOY2023.html Social coming up If you joined us last time we saw this band, then you will recall how good they are. So let me know if you are keen on some disco on Saturday 9 December. Thanks to everyone who took time to fill out the survey. Seems you like the kinds of things we do at the moment, but there are some options for some other things as well that you are keen on. I also note when you are keen to start next year. I am now talking with the teachers to find out their plans. I can then work out the best plan and let you know. See you on the dance floor Clint Group classes this week:
Now let's start getting ready for the end of the year and the start of the next. I have created a survey to find out what you would like to do for the end of the year, for social events in the future and when you will likely come back next year. Please take the time to fill it out here: https://forms.gle/jgeGt3iyVdzyYPvbA This Sunday, there will be a band at the studio venue - https://www.facebook.com/events/238354565497964. This is a new band that we have not danced to before so it will ne a new experience. Let me know if you are coming. See you on the dance floor Clint The world of dance is a mesmerizing realm of expression, creativity, and physicality, offering an avenue for individuals to communicate, connect, and find solace in their bodies' movements. While dance has long been celebrated for its ability to convey emotions, tell stories, and evoke artistry, it has also emerged as a powerful therapeutic tool for individuals with disabilities. This innovative approach to healthcare not only enhances physical well-being but also nurtures emotional and psychological development, fostering a holistic sense of self. Research in the field of dance therapy has showcased the transformative potential of dance for individuals with disabilities. Studies and clinical trials have consistently highlighted the multifaceted benefits of dance therapy, offering insights into its role in rehabilitation, self-expression, and overall well-being. A 2021 study published in the National Library of Medicine found that individuals with Parkinson's disease who participated in dance therapy experienced significant improvements in balance, mobility, and quality of life. Additionally, a 2018 review in the Annals of Psychiatry and Mental Health emphasized how dance therapy can positively impact individuals with autism spectrum disorders, aiding in social interaction and communication skills. Dance is a powerful and inclusive tool that can significantly improve the quality of life for individuals with disabilities. By addressing physical, emotional, and cognitive needs, dance offers a holistic approach to rehabilitation and personal growth. It not only promotes physical well-being but also fosters a sense of belonging, self-worth, and creativity. To make dance therapy even more accessible, we must continue to raise awareness, provide resources, and advocate for its integration into mainstream healthcare and education systems. By doing so, we can unlock the transformative potential of dance for individuals with disabilities and create a more inclusive and enriching world for all.
